Suits are a sophisticated, classic and corporate item of clothing. It has somewhat become conventional to always include a tie when suiting up, but did you know there are also ways by which you can rock that suit without necessarily putting on a tie? and still, look good? Here @stylewithjibs, we’ve curated five tips on how to go tieless with a suit.
-
TOUCH UP ON YOUR COLLAR
Without the tie, the collar would be left to stand out. It is best to allow the collar to stand out well by ensuring the collar of your shirt is neat, well starched and ironed. This gives a sharp and attractive appearance to your look despite the absence of the tie.
2 ACCESSORIZEThere are other great accessories one can put on to couch the absence of a tie when suiting up. Some of such accessories include the pocket square, cuff-links, wristwatch, lapel pin and so on.
3. UNBUTTON YOUR SHIRTSeeing that the shirt is not bound by a tie, it is advisable to unbutton the first or first two buttons on your shirt. The undershirt or singlet must be kept hidden to avoid a messy or overcrowded appearance.
4. BE CAUTIOUS OF COLOR AND PATTERN COMBINATIONThis factor applies to both the suit and the shirt to be put on. Solid colors like grey, black or navy blue ought to be considered and in terms of combination, colors with a contrasting effect are more advisable. i.e. black shirt with a grey suit, or a grey shirt with a navy blue suit.
5. THE PROPER ENVIRONMENTThe environment or surroundings play a big role in confirming how well you have suited up without a tie. Where the environment does not condone putting on a suit without a tie, such as a formal or business function, then despite all your combinations, it would not look good in such an environment.
